Hello ladies,
Our most recent meeting was, once again, a success. We started the meeting off with a team building activity that Jeanne came up with. Each of you picked a piece of paper out of a bag and put the paper on your forehead, facing everyone else. Then, everyone that attended gave hints about who the person on your paper was. It was your job to guess who you were correctly. After our activity everyone welcomed our new club leader, Amanda D. (Activities Director).Next our club leaders showed a brief presentation on Compassion, our theme of the meeting. Janet presented the definition of compassion which is: a feeling of deep sympathy and sorrow for another who is stricken by misfortune, accompanied by a strong desire to alleviate the suffering.Gaby, Amanda V., Connie and Lily all gave instructions on how to be compassionate to family, friends, peers and strangers. After our presentation, Danielle read aloud a story that she wrote about a man who showed compassion, which was then followed up by a group discussion. This meeting's craft was gift cards that each person got to decorate so they could be put on Christmas presents. We were then introduced to our community service activity which will be to put together a blanket for a young lady at one of our sister schools. Also, we were reminded to turn in our fundraiser money and club dues ASAP.
After the meeting, we all enjoyed each others company with our refreshments and treats that Gaby and Jeanne brought in.We hope to see you all at our next meeting ladies, so don't forget to RSVP. Happy Holidays!

Hello Ladies,
This last meeting was a great success. The theme of the meeting was Thankfulness for November. Thankfulness is defined as being aware and appreciative of a benefit and being grateful. Many of us do not give many thanks for what we have but this meeting showed us how we can express our thankfulness to family members and friends.

At the beginning of the meeting Danielle presented a power point on Thankfulness and told us how we can show thankfulness towards everyone around us. After, Lilyana presented a power point on how to be the perfect hostess. The most important thing that we learned from this was that the Hostess sets the tone of the entire party.

Jeanne handed out papers that showed how we should all set tables for formal and informal occasions. Then, Mrs. Jordan demonstrated the correct way to set a table including creative ways to fold napkins. This meeting's activity was to make thank you cards for other people in order to show them how much you truly appreciate everything they do for you. Some gave the cards to their best friends, while others gave the cards to close family members, either way we learned to be sure to show our thankfulness to others. Another craft we did was writing out all the other things we are thankful for in life on a separate card, so we can always be conscious of those things.

At this last meeting we had even more people come out and participate in our activities, so be sure to continue to tell your friends to RSVP and attend meetings. Also, don't forget to keep selling your clips and pens and also pay off your club dues to ASB. Thank you all for your participation in the club meetings and we hope to see you at the next one.:)

First Meeting: Thursday, October 14, 2010

Hello Ladies,

Our first meeting of the year was this past Thursday and it was a success. A little over 20 girls
showed up and joined in. We started off the meeting by Mrs. Jordan, advisor, introducing the club's history and the expectations that go along with being in Ladies' Tea & Etiquette.

Next, our leaders presented the theme of the meeting, responsibility. We learned from each other and from our club leaders that responsibility should be practiced daily. Being responsible isn't limited to certain actions, but can be shown everywhere and in everything that you do.
During the meeting, we each filled out a questionnaire that helped us to see if each one of us is responsible. We also shared out in our groups on different situations where we can show our responsibility and different people who we think are responsible. Everyone in the club got a chance to talk and get to know their fellow club members more.

We concluded our meeting with discussing our topic for the next meeting, which is thankfulness, and by having each of our members sign the club pledge while enjoying the refreshments that Amanda and Lilyana made for us.

We look forward to seeing you all at our next meeting on Thursday November 4, 2010 held after school in the library. Our theme for this meeting will be thankfulness. Thank you so much to those of you that came and if you missed our first meeting you can still join.

Don't forget to RSVP to sfhsladiestea@gmail.com or see Mrs. Jordan in room C104.

As a reminder, club dues are $5 per semester and will go towards buying supplies for crafts, refreshments and our many other events and activities.

Thank you so much,
SFHS Ladies' Tea & Etiquette
